The green clubs initiative is a University tailored programme aimed at infusing the green economy principles that supports environmental sustainability into university students through a green club. The green club initiative is an environmentally sound designed concept that conglomerates all faculties in the university to implement joint projects that are tailored to promote green economy in all the sectors in the society. The green club will be a demonstration of the University sustainability policy that is anchored on environmental consciousness.
The Green club will be implementing projects pilot projects at the University scaling them up at the community level where the university adopts a village in the country for practical knowledge sharing and project implementation.
The Green Club designs and implement an integrated project that suites all the faculties within the green club that demonstrates the complementarity of sectors in the economy for its sustainability.
The green clubs selects the theme of the year, develops the pilot programme and its implementation at the adopted village.
The best performing university in developing the design, piloting and implementing is awarded the Green Club’s Award that demonstrates Excellency with the Green Flag that demonstrates environmental consciousness. The Green club is awarded some sustainability vouchers that the club can use as they implement their projects at the village, Green Economy Books, Certificates and tools aimed at strengthening their capacity in greening the economy.
